1. How was the process of creating the GMail account and setting up the Blog?
I did not find the creating of a new gmail account to be challenging because I have set up new gmail accounts in the past, and I already had an account that I was able to use. It was also simple to set up the Blog, it just took me a short amount of time to consider the title and url for my blog.
2. What do you expect to learn in this course?
I hope to learn how to understand works of art better, and have an ability to interpret potential meanings of some famous works of art. I also hope to learn more about certain techniques that artists use, that we may explore in some of the art projects.
3. How do you feel about taking an online course?
I am comfortable taking an online course, and have taken several in my academic career. I find them to be convenient, and I like that I am able to set aside my own time to focus on the course information.
4. What three things in the Growth Mindset (from Step 3) videos do you believe most apply to you?
- John Legend stated that he never gave up attempting to gain a record deal even though he was turned down so many times. He also said that you can always get better at anything by learning more about it and practicing, like he had with singing. This applies to me because I know that I will be beginning the job hunt very soon, and it is important to remember that you must continue trying to learn and better yourself to be successful.
- The video also demonstrated that a person that has a growth mindset is more open to learning and taking on new challenges. It is easy to get intimidated by a challenge or difficult work, so I will be sure to remember that it is necessary to take on the challenge anyways in order to grow.
- The first video discussed how you can grow your brain by training it to learn information better. It said that saying things or writing them down 5-10 times will help a person to remember them and to make it stick in their brain. This applies to me because I always have to write information down in order to remember and retain it better. I use this technique frequently especially to help me study.
